Announcing the Seward Science Symposium, happening on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025, at the Alaska SeaLife Center! This event is free and all are welcome. Register in advance to secure your spot for presentations as seating is limited.
The Seward Science Symposium is an event focused on highlighting local science and research. Our goal is to raise the visibility of and support for science in the surrounding community, including Indigenous-led research, and build a local sense of pride, identity, stewardship, and enhanced connection to our environment.

Scientific Presentations
10 AM - 4 PM (break from 12 PM - 1:30 PM)
Local researchers, educators, and community members will present on relevant science, cultural work, and the connections between the two.
Poster Session & Brown Bag Luncheon
12 PM - 1:30 PM
Learn about research projects happening in our community by perusing scientific posters during a brown bag lunch.
Film Screening & Discussion

Join us for a short film screening and discussion focusing on fish passage and flooding in Seward. Light appetizers and beverage reception.
Presented by Stewards of the Bay, a collaborative partnership between Seward-area organizations, bringing together local science, culture, and community.
Stewards of the Bay partners: Chugach Regional Resources Commission's Alutiiq Pride Marine Institute, University of Alaska Fairbanks Seward Marine Center, National Park Service Ocean Alaska Science and Learning Center, and the Alaska SeaLife Center.
Also partnering with Kachemak Heritage Land Trust, Trout Unlimited, and the Seward Arts Council to host an evening film and reception.

Location: All presentations will take place at the Alaska SeaLife Center, 301 Railway Ave, Seward, AK.
Parking: There is free parking at the Alaska SeaLife Center.
Dining/Lunch: Poster session with seating available in the Rocky Coast Gallery. Coffee and grab-&-go food options available for purchase at The Porthole downtown location on the first floor of the Center from 10 AM - 2 PM.
