COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In collaboration with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the Karen C. Drayer Wildlife Health Center (WHC) of the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, the Alaska SeaLife Center (ASLC) was awarded a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to work with AZA to create and sustain a national network of animal care professionals to respond to oil spills and other disaster events across the country. Under the grant, ASLC has worked with WHC, to develop and deliver training courses geared towards wildlife responders, a mutual aid framework, and a searchable database to facilitate rapid identification and deployment of appropriately trained professionals from the animal care community.
The training includes a 12-16 hour online study portion prior to attending the course, one day of classroom time and attendance to at least one day of our infrastructure deployment drill this coming August 14-16th.
If attending the drill is not an option for you, please reach out and let us know, it does not disqualify you from attending the workshop or obtaining your certification.
